Services will end with Republic on October 31, 2026. Do not pay for Republic services beyond that day. If you do overpay, you will be refunded in November. Call Republic regarding billing issues.
After you receive the mailer from Rumpke, please sign up using the QR code or call the customer service number provided in the mailer.
WEEK OF OCT 19- RECYCLING ONLY
If you are recycling the week of October 19 (about 1/2 of residents), please leave only the recycling can at the curb after pickup. The third-party vendor will pick up your empty can and drop off your new recycling can on the same day. Your next recycling service will be the week of Nov. 1st. Your trash can will be switched the week of Oct. 26.
WEEK of OCT 26
All other residents will receive new cans for both trash and recycling after collection. Again, just leave empty cans at the curb. The third-party vendor will pick up your empty cans and drop off your new cans on the same day.
Republic cans must be empty for pickup, so no last-minute additions...you know who you are!
I NEED ANOTHER CAN OR SMALLER CAN
All residents will a receive 1-96 gallon trash can and 1-65 gallon weekly recycling can to start. If this doesn’t work for you, residents will be able to request an additional can after the initial drop-offs. Residents will also be able to request a smaller 65-gallon trash. Rumpke is prepared to drop/switch cans as needed after the initial drop-off to meet your needs. Residents are limited to three cans in total, two trash and one recycling.
SERVICE DAYS
There are no changes to residents' service day at this time. Further changes will be communicated by Rumpke directly to the residents. Please just proceed as normal the first week of November. Recycling is now weekly and is included with your standard service.
MID-NOVEMBER
Residents will receive the first bill for service from Rumpke in mid-November for 3 months of service (Nov-Jan). The standard bill is $21.50 a month or $64.50 quarterly. This includes weekly trash and recycling and three large items per week. The next bill comes in January for services from Feb through April.

Waste Services Changing in November 2026 to Rumpke
The Batavia Township Trustees have successfully solicited bids for waste services, with the current contract with Republic set to expire on October 31, 2026. We are pleased to announce that the cost of waste and recycling services will decrease for our residents. The contract was awarded to Rumpke Services at the July 6th meeting, with services commencing on November 1, 2026. Notably, the new monthly rate of $21.50, which includes weekly recycling, represents a reduction from the current rate of $24.70. Our staff is working closely with Rumpke to maintain the existing service schedule throughout the township. The services provided will be similar to those currently offered, including large item pickup. We will post updates on our website and social media as the transition unfolds, including information on how to register for service. Residents can expect to receive mailers from Rumpke in the coming months. Additionally, Rumpke representatives will be in attendance at National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, should you wish to speak with them directly.

The Township elected to contact with Republic Services because the contract provided substantially better value for the super-majority of residents, the contract limited trash pick-up to one vendor which reduces wear-and-tear on the streets, and Republic agreed to limited pick-up hours of operations.
