The Batavia Township Trustees have successfully solicited bids for waste services, with the current contract with Republic set to expire on October 31, 2026. We are pleased to announce that the cost of waste and recycling services will decrease for our residents. The contract was awarded to Rumpke Services at the July 6th meeting, with services commencing on November 1, 2026. Notably, the new monthly rate of $21.50, which includes weekly recycling, represents a reduction from the current rate of $24.70. Our staff is working closely with Rumpke to maintain the existing service schedule throughout the township. The services provided will be similar to those currently offered, including large item pickup. We will post updates on our website and social media as the transition unfolds, including information on how to register for service. Residents can expect to receive mailers from Rumpke in the coming months. Additionally, Rumpke representatives will be in attendance at National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, should you wish to speak with them directly.

The Township elected to contact with Republic Services because the contract provided substantially better value for the super-majority of residents, the contract limited trash pick-up to one vendor which reduces wear-and-tear on the streets, and Republic agreed to limited pick-up hours of operations.
